Some of you might know that I'm in the middle of a project to try to collect all the wiki articles that have frequencies into a single spot. The purpose of this is simple - to provide yet another data source for folks programming their scanners (and don't forget about ham radios, too).
However in this case, you wouldn't use the web service to import frequencies. Some applications have the ability to read data that's already set up as a table, scan it, copy it into Windows Clipboard then import it. FreeScan has this ability (via the EZ Grab function), and I believe Scan Control's Data Grabber could also do it. We also have an article about using Excel for this purpose.
I suspect that there are other applications that could also do this, and that's where the help is needed. I'm fairly sure at least some of BuTel's software can do it (via 'paste special'? Which packages? I could be wrong here as I don't have any of their software); Are there any others besides the BuTel packages that have this ability?
We already have several articles identified as having frequencies in a table type format, so if you want to test, here's your opportunity. The category link is below...
Category:Wiki Frequencies - The RadioReference Wiki
If there are any tricks that you need to use to make your application work, it would be worthwhile to document them. Remember, newcomers may know about using the web service, but not know about using the wiki as a data source. I already have an open slot for an article for this purpose,
Mike
