WS1010: Whistler 1010 Software Programming

My son has developed an interest in radio. I am a licensed ham - W7STR. I have a Whistler 1010 that I want to software program with him for frequencies of his interest. What is the best software programming program for the Whistler 1010 and can I alpha tag the individual frequencies with names/locations. Thanks to the group for assistance.

Have you checked the database to see what, if any frequencies in your area are available for the WS1010?

The Whistler WS1010 model can not display alpha tags, as this is the most basic scanner model available on the market. It has a frequency range of 29-54 MHz, 108-174 MHz, 380-512 MHz. It is an analog voice only scanner, does only conventional type of receiving (no trunking type is available on this model), does not decode any type of digital voice at all, and does not include any option for any type of CTCSS/DCS tones to be programmed (receives CSQ mode only). As far as programming, this can easily be accomplished by hand, as it can hold up to 200 channels spread out over 10 banks. I have ws1010 when i power on the radio it reads call some 1 800 number to activate ,the problem is the number is no longer in service does any body no how to bypass this
