I have a new WS 1010. I have programmed HAM frequencies in my area. the unit seems to work well. however. When the unit is scanning it will stop on a channel as if there is traffic. However there will be none. When stopped it is still in scan mode. If I push scan again is goes to man then press again and it scans. It seems to scan about 20 or 30 mins before stopping on a silent channel. It does not stop in the same channel each time. I have tried adjusting the squelch however I get the same results. It will hold on the silent channel until made to scan again. (I have left it on over night to test this)

This scanner seems really good for mentoring HAM ,does anyone have any ides or fixes to this ? Do I have a lemon scanner?

Any advice helps!

Did you try adjusting the squelch? Scanners will stop on channels when scanning if they detect any signal, even if the signal is interference not related to voice traffic. Try using the scanner in a different area to see if that stops, or changes the freq it is stopping on.

Check out this old thread...

I'm not familiar with that particular radio, but I know that some of them can be set to stay put on a freq once it hears something, even if it is a bit of interference or momentary static.

Look for a setting like that and set it to 'resume scan' after signal is gone.

Let us know what you find out.

I don't have an answer for you, but I have a ws1010 I keep in my fishing bag, I notice what you are experiencing if I use the presets, but never with my saved frequencies on scan. On the presets 🚢, 🔥, ✈, 📡 & 🌩 it stops on random frequencies,(even if I to the squelch all the way up) if I hold the radio to my ear I can here a quite hiss from the speaker till it resumes scanning. Sometimes it will stop 2-3 frequencies in a row.
