I need help setting up my Whistler scanner, can anyone help me?

There are many very knowledgeable members willing to help you, unfortunately none of them are mind readers and need to know what scanner you have and what issue you are having. If you share those I am sure people will jump in to help.

If you're totally new to the scanner, then you might start with the Import page:

Run EZ-Scan and go to Library Import. Select your state and county on the left and then choose services that are likely to interest you on the right. You can repeat this process for neighboring counties if you like.

After the import you can review what you got in the Conventional and Trunked tabs. Delete things you're not interested in.

You must copy this config to the scanner, then you're ready to go.

Of course, this only helps if the scanners is a TRX, we don't know that yet.

I am certain Carnac the Magnificent would have the answer, but Johnny Carson is no longer with us. It is impossible to help without knowing which scanner you have.

Where are ya located?
Will the radio be primarily used in one location or will it be mobile?

What do ya wanna listen to?

Merrillan, Wisconsin. Jackson County. It's in his profile. Close to Clark County.
I looked it up after my reply ...

WI statewide P25 system is phase 1 & has a ton for him to listen to.
Two TGIDs for Jackson Co. Plenty of conventional stuff.

If he has a 1040 / 1065 he'll need to buy software, EZ Scan for TRX-1 or 2.....

I'm preaching to the choir....maybe he'll be back.
It is Christmas day ya know!!

I have a Whistler 1065 here. Trying to get off the ground with programming. The user guide appears to be somewhat different from what I'm actually seeing here.

This thing has nothing in it, judging from the scanlists preview. Using ARC500 for programming.

I only need 3 P25 TG's in this thing for now. I went to Radio Reference to import what I want.....when I click the import button, nothing happens.

Please attach your ARC500 .gr5 programming file so I can take a look at it to check for problems. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the WS1065 is not capable of receiving your talkgroups on the Monroe County NY trunked system. The system is P25 Phase 2 capable and your scanner can receive P25 Phase 1 only. P25 Phase 2 is TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) which means there are 2 audio channels (Slots) available on each frequency. There can be 2 different conversations at the same time on the same frequency. If you look at the Monroe County system in the database, the Mode of most of the talkgroups is "T" (TDMA). If the talkgroups are Phase 1 ("D" in Mode column), your scanner is capable of receiving them. Modes "DE" and "TE" are fully encrypted and cannot be received by any scanner. Modes "De" and "Te" are encrypted part of the time.

oooh...ok then ...thanks a lot for your help. I suppose I should have checked the compatibility of the device with the system.

I appreciate you taking the time with me.
