R8600 white screen

Hello everyone,
My name is Wilhelm I come from Ostfreisland (JO33RD)
I treated myself to an Icom IC-R8600 for my 60th birthday.
I ordered the receiver on March 31, 2023 in Bielefeld. It was delivered on 04/03/2023
after about 2 hours the display went white and I couldn't adjust anything.
After consultation with the dealer I should send the receiver back
so I sent it back on 04/04/2023. Since the dealer was on vacation, I had to
wait until April 17th, 2023
on April 17th, 2023 I asked the dealer how to proceed
He told me that they would send the device to the manufacturer if they got in touch and I would get more information.

Sounds like you received a defective unit.

You should demand a replacement IC-R8600 from the dealer.

So, the receiver is back! Was repaired by Icom, the display was exchanged as a gesture of goodwill.

“A gesture of goodwill” seems a bit off, particularly if the unit was new.

If it's a new IC-R8600 goodwill had nothing to do with it, they were legally obliged to honor their warranty.

In fact, if the receiver arrived not working it should have immediately been replaced by the dealer with a working unit.

Gesture of good will means FU, will repair it. Thats lame for Icom to say that. They just fixed my R30 and did a great job. Am hoping they are not turning into uniden and mess with repairs.
