Who is still using FLEX and GOLAY paging?

I often get VHF paging signals that intermod with a coast guard frequency on 150.7 when the local 911 pages VFD's on 154.22 using analog voice. As long as the voice page lasts on 154.22 I hear FLEX or Golay paging tones on 150.7. This happens quite often. I don't believe the golay or flex have anything to do with the fire pages other than intermod. My question is who is still using these old paging protocols? They seem to go off often even though 99.9 percent of all people gave up their beepers for a cellular phone when the rate plans became affordable.

Grab a Second Radio and search 152-158 and the 162-174 [might be the VA] for the offender
when it is occuring

Does the CG Aux use 150.7000 in LA ?? and if so, what PL

I have never heard them on that frequency in Lafayette I just have that frequency in the scanner because it was on a list of commonly used Coast Guard frequencies I found somewhere. I have heard them on 163.05 but I did not get the tone.

150.7000 is CG Aux, not the Full time CG

CG on 163.0500 is P25 and a NAC of $293

Plenty of doctors still carry pagers they always work within a drivable distance at least. Smart phones have issue with batteries and of course coverage. A strong VHF pager signal is very powerful. However, as wifi connectivity and networks get better I don't think pagers have much time left, mainly because of Wifi calling. If my sprint or at&t phone doesn't have enough service and I am at home or on a wifi network the calls will be routed through the wifi network not through the cell tower.

In Pinellas County, FL, all the FDs use 512 baud POCSAG on 460.6000 which works great. They've been on it for many years. One County over, Hillsborough County FD uses 3200 FLEX on a commercial service on 929.8875. I believe Tampa Fire is also on FLEX but not sure what frequency.
