Why are the markings on radios in English?

This is kind of a long-winded question. I realize supply and demand dictates that radios offer LW because enough people want that but there aren't enough people wanting the weather band to make that offered on more radios. But what I find curious are the number of videos I've seen posted by people talking in a language different than English that show radios with markings for the controls in English playing local programs in languages that aren't English. Is English the default language for labeling radio controls like it is for aviation? Maybe this is something happening in other areas that I haven't noticed too inspite of the trend towards using symbols instead of of words for things here, but it seems odd to me. Thoughts?

I'm guessing it's because English has long been the lingua franca of the world for trade, as well as for public aviation, and nautical communication by worldwide agreement.

and it is taught in many countries. not just the English speaking ones.
