C = Chrome/enclosed coil.
B = Black, has the open coil
SH = short
I've owned all three over the years.
The Black whip/open coil tends to whistle a bit at highway speeds. Open coils tend to do that.
The Chrome/enclosed coil would be a bit quieter. They can be a bit harder to find, and I'm not 100% sure Larsen still manufactures them. They were not showing last time I looked on their website.
The SH is an enclosed coil chrome model with a spring. They used to make a black/open coil version, but I haven't seen one sold new in quite a while. Maybe not looking hard enough.
So, sort of comes down to what you want. The longer antennas are 1/2 wave on VHF and a colinear on UHF. Might be a good choice if you are going to have it mounted on the fender for a while, or don't mind the taller antenna when you do get your NMO's installed.
The SH is about 19", and while that's 1/4 wave length, the loading in the center is what they claim is a center loaded half wave on VHF and 3/4 wave on UHF. It has a spring base. Might be a good option if you are concerned about low tree branches, but you can always add a spring to the longer antennas, if you wish.
I got rid of the NMO-2/70C years ago, wish I hadn't. I'm not sure where the NMO-2/70B went. My favorite in my application was always the NMO-2/70SH as it didn't whistle at highway speeds (usually) and was low profile enough to not be a big deal off road.
Either one will work well and last a long time.
