On Saturday Afternoon March 5th, the Malvern Fire Company along with Newtown Square Fire Company (Delco 41), Goshen Fire Company (54), Paoli Fire Company (3) and Goodwill Fire Company (52) were dispatched to the 7000 Block of Goshen Road for a reported house fire. Willistown Police Department arrived to find fire from the roof and a working fire dispatch was requested by Deputy 4 (Gastwirth). Assistant 4 (Vaughn) was the first arriving fire officer, confirmed the police department report and assumed the operations officer role, while Deputy 4 assumed command and requested additional tankers to the scene due to the lack of water in this area.

Delco Engine 41 was the first arriving fire apparatus, and pulled an attack line to extinguish the fire, which was found in the attic. Ladder 4 arrived and placed ground ladders around the entire structure and then went to search for possible victims in the residence. Engine 54-2 pulled a second attack line into the residence. Engine 56 and Delco Rescue 53 provided RIT services on the fire ground. Additional units arrived and assisted with salvage and overhaul of the historic residence (300 + years old). The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes with the fire being contained to the attic area. The additional tankers that were dispatched via the working fire dispatch and tanker task force were returned at this time. Chester County Fire Marshals Office investigated the cause of the fire, while Belfor provided board up services.

Thank you to East Brandywine Fire Company, Lionville Fire Company and Exton Fire Company for providing cover up to Malvern during this incident.
