i have in in my bedroom window on a soup can. it does work great. i have compared it to my magnet mount antenna specialist and i thought the wilson had a slight advantage on the a.s. while scanning the 800 trunk systems around my area.

Theres 3 different wilson cell antennas that I know about. Small rubber like whip mag mount, Metal whip with a coil made into the whip mag mount, and a large trucker antenna with a large coil midway up clamp mount. I have used the metal one (the one in your pic) for years on a Sprint mogul used for a phone as modem, and found that with the antenna I was receiving 2 more bars on average. Now mine was mounted on a moving vehicle, dont know if that made a difference. What carrier do you have? Cause I know that Sprint offers a base station setup made to improve reception inside the house. It intercepts your cell signal and turns it into a VoIP, then gets sent out via your high speed internet. Friend has one, and the plus to using it, is as long as your connected to it inside your house, it doesnt charge you for minutes used. Other cell providers may have something similar to this. I would ask

I have used the antennas both as a external and with a wilson amplifier...they definitely help, the cell amplifier works extremely well in fringe areas.
