I upgraded to Windows 10 and now the GRE PSR-800 will not connect. I assume that I need a USB driver?

With the exception of the name of the serial driver - which will be the GRE one in this case - the instructions in the wiki are identical to your linked thread (message 22). Or is message 27 more accurate? If so it's a cinch to create an article from them just for the 800

It only makes sense since the 1080 is a virtual clone to the PSR-800...and it's mentioned in the preamble to the instructions..Mike

In 13 years here I have not gone to the Wiki and never will. My RR friends here are much the same .. no use for it to be honest. But I get that it is your thing going by your description.

I am able to connect to the scanner and connect with EZ scan, but unable to update the CPU or DSP firmware.

if it doesn't work and you have a USB card adapter and slot you can do everything that way. I know that little card is hard to get it out but the data transfer is much quicker doing it that way.

But can you set the time using the software ... ??

That is the thing that will tell you whether you are actually able to do the firmware update or not. Until you can do that .. then the update will not happen.

I will have to check tonight, but I thank so or was it the WS1095. I'll recheck tonight.

I used the GRE USB driver from what is left of their website, but still have some difficulties. Was I supposed to use the GRE driver or let Windows 10 installed a driver?

You need the GRE supplied file .. it is an INF file (setup information file), and not really a driver. It uses the native Windows USB driver .. but I am not going there as it will cause a big fight.

I went to the GRE website GRE America Inc. and downloaded the driver

USB PC/IF Datacable 30-290 Driver Version 1.3a Windows 98/Me/Vista/XP/2000/Win7)

I can not set the PSR-800 clock.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that. Did you trying switching USB ports? I know this can be frustrating sometimes before my computer upgraded to Windows 10 with 7 sometimes it would lock up.

That driver is for the GRE 500/600 models. Its for the data cable those scanners use.

If you haven't done anything with the SD card the driver should be in a INF folder on the SD card. If you don't have it on the card, its on your PC in the following: C:/Program files (x86)/GRE/800/Drivers. I don't have a 800 so im guessing at the "GRE/800" part but I think you can understand how to find it. This is assuming you have installed the EZScan pc program already

You need to go to this link and use the zip file attached and follow the instructions for installing the setup inf file.

And I asked the moderators to change it to F7 .. though on the screen it does say F7.

I think the confusion .. is that things are numbered using a 7 .. but at the top of that screen it says press F1-F7 etc. I did write those instructions rather quickly as well I am an IT guy and it is just natural to me after 20 years to do the right thing. It is funny that in over a year .. only one person has had issues.
