I upgraded to Windows 10 and now the GRE PSR-800 will not connect. I assume that I need a USB driver?
While this was written for the Whistler scanners, this might also apply to you...
Connection Issues Under Win 10.x Using the WS-1080 / 1095 - The RadioReference Wiki

With the exception of the name of the serial driver - which will be the GRE one in this case - the instructions in the wiki are identical to your linked thread (message 22). Or is message 27 more accurate? If so it's a cinch to create an article from them just for the 800
It only makes sense since the 1080 is a virtual clone to the PSR-800...and it's mentioned in the preamble to the instructions..Mike
I am able to connect to the scanner and connect with EZ scan, but unable to update the CPU or DSP firmware.
But can you set the time using the software ... ??
That is the thing that will tell you whether you are actually able to do the firmware update or not. Until you can do that .. then the update will not happen.
I will have to check tonight, but I thank so or was it the WS1095. I'll recheck tonight.
I used the GRE USB driver from what is left of their website, but still have some difficulties. Was I supposed to use the GRE driver or let Windows 10 installed a driver?
You need the GRE supplied file .. it is an INF file (setup information file), and not really a driver. It uses the native Windows USB driver .. but I am not going there as it will cause a big fight.
I went to the GRE website GRE America Inc. and downloaded the driver

I can not set the PSR-800 clock.
