WIN500-Trunking Tables-For Scan Lists

In the TSYS Tab for each Scan List there is a Trunking Table to set the Standard, Spinter or Rebanded
Table. In this table there is a base Fquen. of 843.40000 along with the LO. Hi. and Offset. Should this Fquen. value actually be 863.40000?

I have downloaded a few of the Tables of Channels and Fquen. and I can not find a 843.40000 in these tables.
Any input?

I agree that using 843.4000 seems awkward. The formula the scanner uses would be:
((transmitted channel number - offset channel number) * step size) + base frequency = voice frequency.

So for channel 961, with an offset of 0, the calcualtions are (961 - 0) * 25kHz = 24.025. Then 843.4000 + 24.025 = 867.4250.

So if the offset is zero, you need a lower base frequency to get to the desired targed frequency. To me it would make more sense to have the offset for channel 961 be 961 and the base be 867.4250. Then the calculations are (961 - 961) * 25kHz = 0. 867.4250 + 0 = 867.4250.

Ironic that channel 958 has an offset of 958 but 720 and 815 do not. ???

Win500 & GRE

A while ago on the GRE Forum there were posting about the time lag on the GRE line of scanners.

Going thru some of these calculations even it is like a computer does take some time and I am wondering if this may be part of the time delay problem. They were saying that the Undens do not have this problem but of course they may use a different system. Its almost like for the Moto systems we should be going directly to using the Moto Channel numbers in place of all the calulations and the Frequencies.

The problem I am having is my local Public Safety has just Rebanded and I know I am missing a lot of traffic
but can not find the problem, its as if some of the Frequ. are missing . Also each day they seem to be making changes in there own software like going from Channels numbers to VC (voice channel). The CC Dump on the WIN500 helps some but not all.

GRE, Motorola, Rebanding, Tables, etc

I saw that thread too, and they were discussing specifically a digital scanner (like the PSR-500). There are a lot more settings in the digital scanners, and they made some changes to defaults and resolved one specific issue.

Going thru some of these calculations even it is like a computer does take some time and I am wondering if this may be part of the time delay problem.

The 'problem' is that Motorola type systems only transmit a channel number and receivers have to do these calculations. Systems like EDACS use an LCN, which for scanners, does not require the calculations.

Which system are you monitoring? Which scanner are you using?

There are all kinds of things that could be going on. I monitor 3 non-rebanded systems here pretty much 24/7 and find that I just don't have good reception on some specific frequencies; or at least the signals on those frequencies are not as strong for me as others on the same system.

In the case of rebanded frequencies, assuming a MOtorola type system, some issues are related to the specific frequencies being used by the system. Apparently the trunking table you use must be:
LO HI OFFSET BASE STEP
440 559 440 851.0250 25.00
000 719 000 851.0250 25.00
and in the order shown (440 first). This is a requirement according to GRE firmware.

I would like to be able to edit my own table, but I do not see a way to do it in WIN97. Perhaps WIN500 lets you edit/enter your own table.

You could edit the trunking tables in WIN97 as shown in the illustration. I believe that DonS updated the software to automatically calculate a trunking table when/if an import is done.

WIN500 has always had the capability to edit the trunking tables.

You can SELECT an "extended" table, but it does not allow you to EDIT the table for 800 MHz in WIN97. I want to be able to enter my own values for an 800 MHz Motorola TRS.

GRE-Rebaning

gmclam, Thank you or all your help. Sorry I have not replied before but I was wrapped up in researching this rebanding stuff. This was the first rebanding of a system I did and it was a learning curve and really did not know what I was doing.

I look like I now understand it and need to test it more but I think I have it is working now. I have a PSR 500 and using Win 500 and really cound not understand this Custom Tables and the one that says "Rebanding"

As long as you're sending the data to a PSR-300/400 or PRO-164/163 with an appropriate firmware version...

Channels tab, select "Multi-table" under "MOT 800 MHz". Click the "Extended Tables" button. Select a "standard" table and/or edit the values. Click OK.

(Of course, the above presumes you running at least version 1.21 (13 Mar 2009) of Win97).
