Running Windows 7, Professional
2009 Service pack1
Intel Core I5. 4300m CPU @ 2.6GH
Ram 8gb
64 bit OS

Ezscan software installed
Plug in WS 1080 and the USB driver is not recognized.

Downloaded new driver from Whistler and pointed the unk usb device to the new INF file.

Plugged in WS 1080 and get same message.

USB Device Not Recognized...

Disconnect all, and remove the SD card from ws1080.

Plug in card reader and connet to computer USB port and it reads the card just fine. Can modify my EZSCAN settings and upload to SD card no problem.

So my question is Why will it not read the SD while in the ws1080? It has in the past but not now.

Does it have to do with the 64 Bit system?

I have seen threads on windows 8, but not on windows 7.

Thanks

Have you tried a different USB cable or a different USB port?

The USB cable is what came with the radio from Whistler, so no, I have not tried this with another cable. Different usb port yes to no avail. Would not think the cable Would matter. Have you found this to be the case?

I've seen bad cables every once and awhile. If you have another one, it doesn't hurt to try it and rule that possibility out.

I used the win 8 driver instructions and got it to connect. Between the two Connecting to the scanner with usb or pulling the sd card and using a card reader, I prefer the sd card reader option. It connected without any special driver instructions and when updating was 20x faster. Thanks for the info and help getting connected.

I too use a card reader .. but I do power the PSR800 from the USB connection.

But since I set up the software .. I have not had any issues with the connectivity. I am using
Windows 8.1 64 bit.

I had the same problem with installing the drivers but got it to (kind of) work:

Interesting, I can see the drive and actually write to and from the scanner WHEN IT NOT POWERED UP

When I power up the scanner and it is plugged into the USB port the drive disappears and the software won't recognize the device.

Under devices, I see the Whistler 1080 scanner but cannot access. When I "troubleshoot", I get a message t hat says the USB composite device is old an may not work with USB 3.0. It then instructs me to try a USB 2.0 port, which does not exist on the machine.

Any ideas on this? WIN 8, 64bit machine

That is normal .. you cannot program the scanner when it is turned on. I personally tend to use a usb reader as it is like so much faster.

So all your USB ports are BLUE then? From what I've read blue ports = USB 3.0
