I'm wondering if it's GUI, or driver related.

No way to tell Microsoft Windows Leaves you in the dark.

Tell me about it!! Your PC is acting sluggish and you see your HDD activilty light flashing a mile a minute. When you look at your task manager, the normal system idle process is taking most of CPU time (which is a good thing). THEN, WHY THE HELL IS MY PC RUNNING SLUGGISH!!! THAT'S what gets me.

There is no utility you can run to easily see WHAT your PC is doing at any given moment in time. I know, I know, there is the perfmon, but, I said EASY.

Try a RESTORE (which usually won't work) after that you may want to try a WINBLOWS Repair using the original install disk. Better back up any data files you don't want to lose in the process. If all else FAILS try reinstalling WIN Blows.

OP, It's very hard to diagnoses a computer problem over a forum. I've had many issues myself, and all resolved by myself. GUI, drivers, and/or a recent install of something seems to be the culprit here thus far.
