Wise County VA Sheriffs Office

Does anyone know if Wise Sheriffs Office has went or is in the process of going digital? It shows that Wise County Law Dispatch has been updated on here, and its the same information. I am no longer receiving them. I was informed that they were thinking about going to the VA STARS radio system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would not be surprised if Wise has piggybacked on STARS similar to neighboring Buchanan County. I do not know if this is the case but I am very interested that this may be spreading to other counties. I guess we will have to wait and see if any new TGs show up.

I wonder if they have piggy backed on STARS and are just leaving their analog active until all of their vehicles get equipped with it? I haven't noticed or heard of any new talk groups except for Buchanan County. Do you know when Buchanan County will officially launch. I'm receiving them but its occasionally just one side or the other deputy or dispatch, and times I receive both sides. I re downloaded it from radio reference web service.

I would make sure the tone is correct, it should be 136.5.

I am not sure how “they” are planning on rolling this out but it appears that some counties in SW VA are moving in this direction. I have been trying to find out more. In regards to Buchanan, I noticed that another TG was identified (Grundy PD) so that is two we know about. There are lots of reasons why you may only hear one side of a conversation and most likely you are just not receiving the mobile unit. If you are monitoring STARS I would certainly pay attention to any unidentified TG that show up. That said I will post anything that I find out. Sorry, not much of an answer.

The tone is Correct. It has started picking up. Got word that they were looking at going to STARS.
