What's that about? I think this is new, as I don't recall there ever being a data channel on their trunked system before. Anyone know if this is replacing/supplementing 460.2 MDTs, or if it's entirely unrelated?

853.5125 replaces 868.5125 (moved 15MHz lower). I think it's MDT data. This has been in use since day one with Nashua's 800MHz Moto TRS. I think it's unrelated to 460.200.

Is anyone able to monitor the system in its current state with Pro96Com? I have monitored them before, so my setup works, but it's not decoding anything right now. I'm hearing their control channel nice and strong on 853.2625, and the Pro-96 shows 90-99% and gets the 7C25 ID, but Pro96Com just goes through the motions of monitoring without actually getting any data. ("0 out of 15" packets decoded...) Just trying to figure out if it's an error on my end or if they've dropped to 3600 or something during the transition? It's more irritating because I know it used to work.

I think Nashua has completed the switchover to the rebanded freqs. It looks like you need to reband it using Win96.

The change started on Thursday 1/29 or Friday 1/30 with the switchover of the analog system freqs. This is when the 3600 baud control channel moved. The 866MHz P25 digital freqs stayed for a few days longer. In my Pro-96, I was able to program the new control channel freqs and all was good for a day or two until they moved the P25 digital channels from 866MHz to 851MHz. I found my Pro-96 wouldn't work on Nashua's system anymore. It appears that Nashua's frequency changes are complete and my Pro-96 is hearing everything fine now that I've rebanded it using Win96.

Dave:

I followed your instructions for the Pro-96 using Win96 and I'm up & running again with Nashua Police & Fire after rebanding, Thanks! I already had the rebanded Nashua system working on my Pro-106 and PSR-600 using Win500 software. And, my BCD996T is working now with Nashua as well after having followed the instructions from Uniden. Up next is the BC796D & BC898T ;-)

As far as I know the police have MDT data on 460.2000 MHz. All fire aparatus also have MDT's in the vehicles, which seems to be using the 853.5125 MHz Frequency.

Folks should know that, for any Motorola SmartNet (includes SmartZone) 3600 baud system, they can implement the "post rebanding" offset tables even before a system has fully cut over to a rebanded system. The new offset tables use the same channel numbers for any frequency that is legitimate under the "old" system. As a result, using the "new" table with an "old" system will function just fine.

For those with the BCD-396T radios - what's the secret with Nashua's rebanding and getting it to play? I updated the firmware from 2.x to 3.x yesterday. Changed the freq's I had for Nashua to be 15 mhz lower to match what you're describing here. Picked the Motorola 800 mhz type 2 system as per Uniden's directions. It wasn't type 2 hybrid, it was something else off the top of my head. I've done all this under ARC396 v3 software and checked it in the radio itself, but so far, for Nashua I had nothing at all. The surrounding town systems I had loaded work as they did before. What do I have out of whack?

Rebanding would not affect the surrounding towns as they are conventional.

Rebanding ONLY affects the changes made for "Motorola" trunked systems.

Did the firmware take ?

For nashua nh follow this method it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nashua is in change mode. The system is a combination of pre-reband and post-reband conditions.

You have to re-create Nashua as a Motorola Custom system. If you don't have this option, you need the latest firmware. You have to create this system manually unless you have a software package that can create and save a Motorola Custom system with at least 5 band plans that contain start and stop frequencies, offset channel and step frequency. UASD and bctool presently cannot do this so be careful not to erase this new system when programming your scanner until the software catches up.

Create a Motorola Custom system with the new frequencies (15MHz below the old frequencies), use the band plans below, add your Groups and TGIDs.
This system WILL work for now, until Nashua completes the process.
When they do, you will need to use the band plans in the firmware release notice, also below.

Here are the bandplans that are apparently in use right now:

1- 851.0125 - 854.0 offset 0 spacing 25KHz (for all)
2- 851.025 - 854.0 offset 440
3- 866.0 - 866.975 offset 720
4- 867.0 - 867.4 offset 815
5- 867.425 - 868.95 offset 961

When they are done, these are the standard rebanded band plans:

1- 851.025 - 854.0 offset 440
2- 851.0125 - 868.9875 offset 0

follow the above method it works fine in nashua with the uniden bc 396t radio

Thanks all. I saw there was a new firmware out for the 396t (3.02.02) which I grabbed and put in the radio. Must have been the firmware load from 2 days ago (3.01.01) that wasn't happy as this one picks up the Nashua chatter as it should. ARC396 software does handle the new band plan on it's own, and I'm sure the others will catch up soon. I listened to the police and fire dispatcher yesterday evening for a bit without any hiccups - even sounded better than it did back in December.

Nashua reception

Is anyone out there presently receiving Nashua NH Police broadcasts?
I get the Nashua Transit System, Public Works, but no Police.
I went to Radio Shack and had them program my PRO 96 but to no avail.
I started pressing them for answers. They told me no one else was complaining about (lack of) reception. Come to find out Radio Shack is not receiving them either.
If anyone is receiving NH Police broadcasts please give me the frequencies.
Any help would greatly appreciated.

Hi Dave.
I already have 853.45 programmed and receive nothing. I am trying to get the Win96 software but I don't think it's compatible with VISTA. This frequency is also listed on the Nashua trunked system as a Primary control channel on RR database.
Thanks for your help.

Which Band Plan are you using ? and What Scanner.

With the new Channels, they went to a modified Band Plan

RodneyA332:

Win96 works fine on my Vista machine. If you want, I can e-mail you my Pro-96 file for Nashua's rebanded system and you can just upload it into your scanner and should be good to go. My Nashua file has all of the talk groups for police & fire.

Hi Mike.
Sure, Thanks!
My e-mail is:
rodneya332@hotmail.com
I just brought my scanner to the Hudson NH Radio Shack. The manager there claims he can program my Pro96 through Win96 program. I have tried many times to install this program but get an error message every time. I purchased the ARC96 program. Although it works fine, I don't think this is what I needed.
Thanks for your help.

pro 96 file

Would you mind sending me the pro 96 file? I can't seem to get Nashua to come in no matter what I do. I've been playing with the scanner and Win 96 for 2 hours now and get nothing. I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ken
