What's the filename and extension of the firmware image? If it's a .txt file, you have to rename it to .scn. Is the .scn file in the same folder as the BC_VUP program?

mjh101, I had and have the same problem at home with my 396T. I could do the update at the electronics shop (Windows XP) where I purchased it (Abel Electronics in St. Clair Shore, MI) from 1.07 to 1.09 so when I tried the 1.10 update I still could not do it at home (Windows XP) BUT when I took everything to work (Windows 98) I could do the 1.10 update no problem. I do not have any issues with my ARC396 or Uniden free software for programming just the firmware updater program. Maybe it is a driver issue with the software for that program? I am using just the standard serial cable supplied by Uniden.

In order to resolve the rude IE behavior (changing the file name for you), we will be changing the "scn" files to be delivered in a "zipped" format. Although this will add a step (you'll need to unzip the file to a directory on your PC), it should eliminate this renaming problem many are experiencing.
