Unication G2 VHF Help

I've been doing pager programming for years. Mostly Motorolas but I have a Unication G1 that I got set up to do what I needed it to. With that said I'm stumped. Recently, one agency went P25 on their own channel (not the county alerting channel) so I invested in a Unication G2. Little bit of a learning curve coming from the G1 PPS. I've got my frequencies in, I've got my Zones set up, I've got my two tone pairs set up but cannot get it to alert. Correct me if I'm wrong but I can have a channel set to monitor and still have it alert, correct? It doesn't have to be set to selective call I don't think. (the G1 didn't anyway).

I'm running PPS 4.00.41 and my firmware is up to date. While in E7 (Zone & Channel Setting), I change the protocol type to 2-tone, my protocol alias is Quik Call, when I hit SAVE, I get the following error message; "Please select TGID Grouping List. TGID Grouping List can be set in the previous step "Conventional Group ID Setting".

I'm thinking the error is a setting on page E6 (Conventional Group ID Setting) but I'll be damned if I can figure what I'm doing wrong.

Click Add 2 tone
Select the 2 tone group aliases you want.

U P D A T E - Although a significant improvement over the G1 PPS, the G2 PPS does take some knowledge, experience as well as a little trial and error. I admit, I'm not all that familiar with P25 systems and know even less about setting up a receiver for trunking. There are no trunked systems in my area that I'm interested in so I never bothered to educate myself. In fact, there is only one P25 channel I'm interested in and had about given up.

I had a breakthrough, fine tuned and tweaked and with all that said, I've come to the conclusion that the G2 VHF pager (that I'm using primarily as a scanner) is an excellent device. Great receiver, great audio, great display and the SMA antenna connection is a great option for an external antenna. I even ponied up for the amplified charger which sits next to my bed on the night stand. I have one zone that is monitor only so I can listen without being jolted awake in the middle of the night. (I did that for 22 years and those days are over) The unit is a little pricey but I don't mind paying up for good equipment. Thanks for the feedback.

SMA antenna connection is a great option for an external antenna.

I'd be extremely careful using anything on the SMA connector on the G2, perhaps use the amplified charger which comes with a BNC connector for your external needs. Those SMA connections are really "picky" what you put into them.

Absolutely. I've found that when outside the amplified charger, the stock antenna works very well.
