Hey all.. I've been searching the forums for a little over a week and can't seem to find my answer. I recently bought a WS1065 and trying to get working for my mom for a Christmas gift. Ive tried both WIN500 and ARC500 software. Both have uploaded to the scanner fine. The scanner only picks up the local fire dispatch and weather and nothing else. I'm sure it's a setting I am missing. I live in Marshall County West Virginia. It is a Project 25 Phase 1 system on conventional frequencies. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe you misspoke but this sentence makes me question what you've programmed.

Did you program only the county conventional frequencies or did you load the statewide system and the two Marshall County sites as well?

EDIT: also, based on the listings, unlike the conventional dispatch frequency, it looks like the conventional fireground channels may not be using a repeater which means you'd have to be close to the units transmitting to hear them. Using non-repeater frequencies for fireground isn't all that unusual.

besides proper programming you might need to use an external antenna with good low loss coax depending on your location to towers

Thanks for the quick replies.. I only downloaded the conventional frequencies ... I didn't see the others until now. Thanks again for all the help. I'll download the trunking frequencies when I get home and give them a try.
