Looks like it will be a reality next year.

VHF P25 Phase 1 compliant statewide trunked radio. Looks to me like ALL public safety will be on it...

Wooo hooo, am I glad I own a BC250D... it will be the PERFECT scanner for this system.... You can put to rest the Pro-Voice rumors, the requirements state that all radios on the system must be capable of receiving/transmitting unencrypted P25 phase one compliant comm's. Right on Wyoming.... :D

Here's a great link for those of you who might be curious what's going on out there: http://ipc.state.wy.us/radio_index.asp

I'll post more as I find it... very interesting.

But if it's P25, will it be 9600?

Based on the Motorola link, looks like it will be... Guess the 250 won't be so good after all...

Mike

Oooh, I didn't think of that!!! Damn, you're right... Looks like it's time to pinch my pennies for that PRO-96...

Still, I currently monitor the Phoenix TRS conventionally on my 250, so maybe I can "suffer" with that until the digital version of the 246T comes along. Or perhaps t4win will FINALLY do 9600 by the time I move... (fat chance)...

Bummah. Then again, it's not due to go in until next year so if I do end up out there, I've got some time to prepare.

I was just reading yesterday about how much surplus the Wyo budget has, because of the big increase in Nat gas production--So they should be able to afford a "Lexus" system.

I will be interesting to see if it works a lot better than the Colo 800 DTRS because of the VHF coverage differences. I have found that the signal levels vary so much in Colo just by going a short distance that it forces you to program a lot of sites in to keep good reception.
