Hi, got a radio shack pro 106 scanner a little while back to replace an old analog scanner. I am having some problems programming the scanner and finding the digital codes/frequencies for the area of Sweetwater County Wyoming (anyone have these codes or know were to get them, have looked on this site and haven't found any that would work....maybe I am entering them wrong in the scanner) I have tried just entering the codes that I found on this site and got no were with it. I have read some stuff about talkgroups and I am not sure how those work and what I need to do to program those into my scanner. Any advice will help...I am lost here.
Thanks

Welcome!!

Before you can really get to programming, you need to understand digital trunking (which is what WyoLink is).

IN IT'S MOST BASIC FORM,

There are towers that use frequencies. And every agency (WHP, Sweetwater sheriff, ETC) has it's own talkgroup. The towers will route each talkgroup to whatever frequency is available and all radios listening to that talkgroup will follow it to it's next frequency.

There are some good trunking primers here on RR.

So, your radio will need to have the frequencies for each tower around you programmed in, then the individual talkgroups for whatever agency you want to listen to. It sounds daunting, but it really isn't

Good Luck,
WM

You have 55 sites, and 31 talkgroups. Without knowing which sites you need, it's hard to tell you. Easiest way to get you started, is to get win 500 software, and a premium subscription to RR. Then you can import the data and write it to your scanner.
