The XHDATA D-- 109 has been my bed radio for a couple of months. I have had 2 Tecsun PL -310 Et radios fail in a row. I like the 109, and especially the fact I can plug in a short wire antenna (from my Tecsun PL-880 kit) for a boost on SW and FM, like you can on the PL 310 ET.

I put about 3GB of history lectures of mp3 audio on a card to use with the mp3 player on the XHDATA. The card is a 16 GB card I formatted in EXFAT, as I read that was needed. This card plays perfectly in my Sandisk MP3 player, but will not play in the D109. The tiny card locks in, and comes out, of the radio just fine.

I read the manual, reset the radio, and tested the card elsewhere--but in the D-109 "NO" comes up, or "HI", or "11" when the lower button for the card/player is pressed. It then it enters bluetooth mode---even though the upper Bluetooth button was not pressed.

I must be missing something really obvious, or the card slot on the radio might be bad. Too bad, I was sure an hour and 20 minute history lecture of the WWI Naval Battle of Jutland, or 30 similar lectures, would induce sleep without fail.

Perhaps someone here can straighten me out on this issue. Thanks,

My PR-D14 will technically play MP3s off a USB stick, but when I tried that, it didn't recognize the USB stick. I didn't try it again, just let it go, as the radio works well for what it is (my kitchen radio, currently). Some radios seem to be a bit finicky about this sort of thing -- at least that's my take on it. Maybe try another brand of SD or TF card?

That is the only conclusion I get too, try another card. Sounds easy enough, but a trip to Wal-mart always has collateral damage.

I hear ya. I like Walmart, but last time I went there some idiot backed into me. I have not returned.

I've had the XHDATA D-109 for several months now and have found out that I have 2 SanDisk cards the same size and formatted the same but 1 works and 1 doesn't in the D-109. The 1 that doesn't work in the D-109 works in anything else I try it in. The D-109 is just fussy about memory cards.

Hey,

Sorry if I'm late to this party - this is my first radio I've ever owned and I really struggled with this issue.

I created an account just so I could leave a comment here explaining how to do this, because the manual didn't help at all - I even reached out to XHDATA and never received a response.

To use the TF card, I did the following:

1) I used a 32GB SD card
2) The drive was formatted as FAT32
3) (the most important step) I converted files to .WAV.

Seriously, after hours battling this was the solution - .WAV files instead of .MP3.

I hope that this helps and also that I'm not violating any guidelines here... I've never used a forum before either.
