Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XLT5000 Consolette - Encryption Issue

Good morning/afternoon,

I recently became aware of an issue regarding the encryption module on our XTL5000 consolette. After loading some new keys, I noticed that the encrypted channels would work for "X" amount of time. At some point they would stop playing the audio, but the channel still showed busy just like it would if there were no keys loaded. When I power down the radio, then power back up, the channel works again as it should for differing amounts of time...sometimes for a few hours and sometimes for a few minutes. If I attempt to transmit once the radio stops playing the audio on the encrypted channel, I get an error 09/10.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it as simple as replacing the UCM? Or should I replace the UCM as well as the carrier board? I don't have another consolette with encryption, so I can't just swap them to see what happens. I have pulled the UCM and reinstalled with the problem persisting.

I have been told to update the firmware, but that seems to be an impossibility due to it being way over end of life. To me, it seems more of a hardware issue????

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
