• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I finally got my XPR6550 ( 403-470Mhz. ) I was initially told that it was programmed with R16 version CPS. Turns out it was programmed with R13 CPS and my R14 will work. I programmed the radio exactly how I wanted it with no issues. I saved the codeplug and I am working off of a separate codeplug I created for testing purposes. I downloaded HxD as the OOB mod asks you to. Unfortunately, I have not been able to successfully change the upper limits. I want to go from 470 to 480 to allow programming of some local channels just past 470. Every time I get to th point of hitting "replace all" to replace 470.000000 with 480.000000 it says it cannot find 470.000000. I tried it with 3 zeros and 6 zeros after the decimal with no luck. Can anyone suggest anything else? I am running windows 10 and HxD is running with admin. privileges.

open cps. read the radio and save the codeplug. then open hxd and open ram select mototrbocps. then click search and click replace. type in 470.000000 and 480.000000 click the box that says unicode string then click replace all save it and go back to your still open codeplug in cps navigate away from the radio info screen and back to it and it should say frequency range 403.000000-480.000000

No it does not and that turned out to be the problem. The latest version of HxD has a different screen. If you don't look carefully you won't realize that you have to touch the down arrow and reveal the unicode option. Once I realized the issue, I had no problem with the modification

I only needed it to go to 480 to monitor local departments. However, if I’m going to do the mod, might as well go all the way....I won’t be TX-ing up that high anyway, just RX-ing so I’m good. I can hear some of the L.I.and NYC stuff in the 482.XXX
ranges.
