• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, recently bought some xpr6580 radios from eBay. I can read the radios and edit channels but can’t seem to do much else. It seems maybe the person who had it before had some sort of restrictions if that’s even possible. If anyone has a file with the factory programing/settings that I can upload and hopefully revert whatever the previous owner has done that would be amazing.
Thanks
Jacob

If you have the firmware files you can try a codeplug recovery. Before doing this, read it in tuner and save your parameters to reload after.

It's not really possible to put restrictions on stuff like that. If you can get into the radio codeplug in CPS, you have full access to edit everything needed.

What all is where you think you're restricted, I'll try to help on here.

Is there an option board? Or is it set up for trunking?

I can send more when I get home, but I am missing the whole section for things like changing the radios ID, adding DMR systems adding digital contacts etc.
Changing the radio ID is in the general settings. See pic Screenshot

As for the DMR trunking, it should work if you scan the frequencies on both slots for the system. So add a frequency twice and give it slot 1 and slot 2 on the other. Put it in a scanlist and let it rip. If you want help you can join the discord group in my signature or DM me to send me the codeplug and we can work on it that way.

As stated above, radio is flashed for smartnet analog trunking. Need DMR firmware to change it to DMR. TT
HI,
Where can I get the DMR firmware please? I bought some on ebay...and it works analog, but no DMR. I'm building a 900mhz repeater in my neighborhood, and we have new Hams in the community. Money is tight and I have a few of these xpr 6580s... which will work nicely in the event of an emergency here in Florida. Please help...
Thanks

Can't find the resource center, it seems it gone... can you verify the URL?

When buying these radios, look for the ones with the connect plus trunking decal. They are already flashed to do DMR. If no decal, they are analog only, unless they were upgraded later on. Unless one has special tools, it’s an EID that’s I think $75.
