To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

hi, Anyone monitor a Capacity+ system on an XPR-7550?

I have followed this tutorial,
as was mentioned in another post on here.

Strange thing is, when I go to the zone where I put two Cap+ systems into, and one conventional channel the following occurs

Channel 1 (convention channel shows up and works fine)
Channel 2 & Channel 3, which are Capacity+ systems, with RX Only selected, the screen shows a window in red saying Unprogrammed with an exclamation above it.

I've messed with DMR for Amateur radio for a few years but never tried to monitor a Cap+ system.
It's almost as if nothing is assigned to the zone, for lack of a better way to describe it.

I think there is something I must have set wrong or missed for this to be happening.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like your radio ID is too high. Try setting it to 1 for testing.
Interesting.
My radio is set up for NY DMR amateur systems and as such I have my DMR ID set to whats assigned to me.
Unfortunately the design only lets you set one radio ID, not per system.
Would have never thought that.
I'll try this now just to see if it resolves.

Thank you

ibd, that did it!
Wasnt crazy important to listen to the system, was just doing it to hear the kinds of radio traffic on a certain system, but this resolved it.
Might you know the valid range of Cap+ radio ID's?
Thank you.

So , now it shows Out of Range, so I'm thinking maybe I have the channels entered incorrectly.
Why are we entering in each frequency twice?
Does the system need the channels in a specific order?
Appreciate the assistance.

Is your site list correct? Is your channel pool correct?
I cant say for sure. First time doing this.
I entered the frequencies as shown in RRDB, entering each one twice. In the order shown on RR
I didn't enter anything for site list, as it's one site.
Maybe that is where i went wrong.

Appreciate your input

I reviewed this procedure and did everything referenced herein, except for Data channels, as I am not using data and also have RX only selected.

I did not enter anything about sites, so I didn't make any entries there.

Regarding the voice channels, I see them listed twice in the RRDB, I just pulled the duplicates out to see how it behaved but still same result after updating the radio with these changes.

Is it possible that one or all of the freqs need to also be added to the Capacity+ data list so the radio knows what voice channel to use? (just guessing here)

Remember that MotoTRBO/DMR has 2 time slots per frequency pair. That's why RRDB lists it twice. You don't need to program it twice.

Program the pair's RX and TX (the TX frequency is typically VHF is +600khz, UHF +5Mhz, 900 is +39Mhz unless otherwise noted) in the Channel Pool along with its color code. It's important to keep these in order. I typically will name the pair and add a numerical suffix. Example, ABC1 is going to be for the first member with IDs 1 and 2. ABC2 would be for IDs 3 and 4, and so on.

This is very important when creating the Cap+ voice list.

Then you can add the channels with it's perspective RX TG so you can monitor.

The radio knows each frequency pair has 2 time slots and the system in a sense will tell the radio where to listen.
