• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Motorola XPR 8300 that I’ve successfully been rebuilding. It had extensive corrosion but I’ve managed to repair most of it. My next roadblock is proper firmware. It’s currently running version 01.03.03. I’ve done some digging online and have been unable to find the necessary files to bring it up to date. If someone would be able to provide guidance on how to obtain them or happens to have them that would greatly be appreciated. From my understanding I need to upgrade in steps for it to work properly.

Asked and answered previously. I notice you still did not mention what functionality your current repeater lacked, or what you were hoping to gain by 'improving' the Firmware.

My repeater firmware doesn’t support digital operation or multi operation (analog+digital simultaneously). It also doesn’t support any features being activated because it is one of the earlier firmwares. This is why it needs a firmware upgrade!

You don't need a firmware update, you need to add entitlements for those features which was a purchase item. No longer available.

The options were available in later firmware revisions. They aren’t even an option to be enabled currently.

Let me be clear. Even if you update the firmware to support those options, you would have to order those features individually from Motorola and install them using CPS. Since the XPR8300 is way out of support I see the chances of getting those are pretty much nil.

The licenses for the XPR repeaters are the same part numbers as the SLR ones, and are still orderable. But I’m not sure if licenses can still be activated in CPS16, might need to bring the repeater firmware up to something that will work with CPS2.0.

Licenses are not able to be activated through 16 anymore. However you can activate the entitlement through CPS2 and still read/write with CPS16
