• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone. I have a problem with my XPR4550. Ive recently powered it on and just changed the codeplug by adding a few new zones.

This is nothing I haven't done many times before with out a problem.

This time when I installed it it seemed to finish the codeplug install and the radio powered down straight away which its never done before.

I then turned it back on but its simply just powering down again.

Is this due to the codeplug or firmware or could this be a physical problem with the circuit board? I have tested the power lead and fuse and all is fine. Even made sure it wasnt an earthing issue and replaced the power lead still doing the same.

If it is a firmware or codeplug problem how do i keep the radio on whilst replacing the firmware or codeplug?!

Many thanks

its on follow ignition only however the radio is connected straight to the battery not via anything else. I dont think ive ever touched the ignition settings. This was the codeplug that ive been using for ages. Just every so often changing some zones or frequencies. If follow ignition only ignores the power button the power button would not work at all? Im still able to turn the radio on even if its for a second.

Complete shot in the dark....yank the fuse and press power button to try to turn it on. Then replace fuse and turn it on.

Also, try to power it up with CPS running and cable attached, btw, are you using front or rear for cable?

To add, what CPS are you using? I thought I saw a MTN about using the newest version with older firmwares/CPs written by older versions of CPS. And, also, are you reading the radio to edit, or editing a saved CP. Shouldnt matter, but this is Moto ro la after all.

Im reading the code plug adding to it then re uploading the same one just changed.

No not yet. Im in the middle of either trying to make one and finding which pin to put it in or buying an actual pre made one from the states.
If you have it set for follow ignition only, you have to use the ignition sense wire. Change that setting in the CPS and see what happens. Ignition sense is pin 25.
