If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XPR7550e Rx audio only from RSM not from internal speaker.

So I got this XPR7550e UHF firmware 2.09 (CPS V16 compatible) to replace my V2 only. Radio works fine but I can not hear any audio from the internal speaker, but it sounds fine if I connect a RSM (Remote Speaker Mic). I went through the CPS looking for a setting that might only allow audio from an external accessory but could not find anything. Even opened the radio and speaker and it shows 8 ohms continuity, so its not blown and seems like its fine. All flex strips are properly connected and seated.

Anybody knows what might be happening here?

While adding voice announcement files came across one that is called "radio speaker selected" which then gave me the idea of checking the button functions, and indeed I enabled the function "switch speaker" but it does nothing.

Also checked bluetooth and when checking My Status it shows that it is currently switched off. However thinking that perhaps just turning it off does not automatically switch audio back to the internal speaker?

What am I missing here?

I have a UHF 7550e on 2.09. Nothing jumps out at me but feel free to share your code plug and I’ll compare.

Can you hear keypad presses at all? Or nothing?

If the speaker is fine, it might be the connection between the board and the speaker or the connector on the board itself. Did you check those when you opened the radio?

No selfcheck tone upon power up, but I can hear the beep-beep when I connect the RSM in the RSM speaker, and I programmed the select speaker to the P1 button. It toggles between accessory speaker and radio speaker. I can hear the voice announcement for accessory speaker through the RSM, but nothing when radio speaker is selected even with the confirmation showing on screen but cannot hear the announcement for that even when the RSM is removed.

I also have scan on/off programmed on another button but even with the RSM connected cannot hear the voice annoucement scan on/scan off when I toggle it, but I do get the on screen confirmation.

And yes the required voice files are correctly loaded, have done it many times.

The only ones I could not find to load on the announcement file list are "route audio to bluetooth" and "route audio to speaker", but these appear on the list inside the CPS announcement section and are of course set to none. Not even sure to what button function they are associated with, but that was my last hope that the audio is still being routed to BT, even while BT is turned off.

Out of trying something else, since it should erase the codeplug and restore it to default, just did a device recovery through CPS16 as I do have the required FW file loaded, but even after that still no self check tone sounds on power up.

Just programmed an analog channel and same situation, only audio through RSM, Tx is fine same as in digital.

Guess will have to open again the radio and recheck all connectors, however they all look normal and locked.

Ok getting to the hardware checking, so started by swapping the whole front housing of the new problem radio onto my main board, no dice, still no audio. Then swapped my known good front housing from my working radio on to the main board of the new radio, and now I do have audio. Then narrowed it down to the flex between the main board and the interface board in the housing being defective. After that flex was swapped out with mine, the new radio front housing now has audio with its own main board.

Problem solved, just need to order a new flex.

Thanks to K2NEC and W6VVN for their input.
