Xtl2500 help

Recently acquired an old xtl2500 800mhz mobile. I was able to get it programmed and is working ok but it seems to be missing some transmission's here and there. Is there any recieve audio settings I can adjust to not miss p25 transmission?

We will need more information - are you listening to conventional or trunking? If trunking, is it an affiliated subscriber or are you doing NAS? If you are doing NAS, how many talkgroups are you scanning, and how do you know you are missing transmissions, do you have an SDR parked on the same site as the radio?

Probably needs a tuning and alignment if it isnt anything with antenna end.

Thanks foe the response, I am currently scanning 10 tg’s and I was comparing the transmissions to a xts radio which seems to work very smoothly compared to the xtl2500.
I’m sure I’m overlooking something tg hangtime or something like that.

If you are comparing two radios side by side, a good first step is to top level drag and drop the working codeplug into the “problematic” one, that should make your settings mostly the same.

As the other poster said, tuning never hurts (if done correctly with a calibrated service monitor).

Also if you are in an area where there are multiple sites, make 100% sure both radios are definitely listening to the same control channel – it is common for different sites not to carry all of the same traffic, depending on where legitimate subscribers are affiliated.

Keep in mind that these radios are old enough to drink in all 50 states. These used radios have often been beat to hell before hitting the hobby market.

I'd bet a dollar that it would be much happier with a proper alignment. That radio probably hasn't seen a service monitor in this decade, if at all.
