• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Never a good thing when you've been a member for six months, and already have a reputation. Even on the "down under" board, which is normally very permissive and lets most things fly, Mr. Mason has made a name for himself very quickly. o_O

Clearly I’ve missed something. Lol wasn’t this just about re-casing a radio? I must need new glasses 🤓

Various threads on multiple websites along with OP's own website have caused the discussion to grow beyond OP's intended scope.

He's learning one of the first lessons about the LMR profession as it relates to the internet: it's a very small world.

Not just on the internet. LMR admins know a lot of other LMR admins all over the place. Admins trade notes.

You mean adding your badge number in the waiver fee letter doesn't help?

Welcome to the discussion, Kevin!!!! Glad you're on board.

Have you been issued a badge number by Mr. Mason yet? I understand you can choose a two digit number on his application form.

I'm going to quote my own post from another board for the benefit of Mr. Mason and these other groups that want to license Business/Industrial Land Transportation (B/ILT) (IG) frequencies for "personal use".

Yours Truly said:
The reality of it is that if the FCC wanted to, all of these radio systems these guys are licensing (or trying to) could be shut down in a heartbeat.

What they fail to realize is that the B/ILT radio service is not a personal radio service. Since the frequencies are not being used for B/ILT purposes, well, they don't qualify for them. Ideally the FCC would cancel all of this and instruct them to move to Citizens Band (27MHz or 462MHz), MURS or amateur radio.

People don't think these things through or look at it from all angles.

The FCC can't look the other way at this sort of thing, otherwise all B/ILT frequencies would be tied up with people's personal nonsense on them. The FCC has audited crowded bands in the past, and they'll do it again. Anything sticking out as unusual will surely raise a red flag.
