• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok, I got the hang of the CPS on my XTS 3000. I just have two small things that are getting on my nerve.

I am using CPS R05.03.00

1). I have two conventional zones set up. On zone two, the first channel keeps showing the talk around icon with the two sticks and the arrow pointing to the right between them. Thing is, all my personalities are receive-only mode.
NO other channel has this symbol on it. What am I missing?

2). How do I stop the rotary knob from triggering scan every time I change a channel?

Like I said, all my programming went fine and the radio reads and accepts data with no issues.

The 1st one, is probably because it was programmed with the RX and TX frequency before you made it RX only.

#2. Is it scanning every time you change the channel? Are you scanning before you change the channel? Not quite sure exactly what you mean.

You were right on the money! I reprogrammed it as a RX ONLY personality FIRST before putting in the rest of the parameters. Thanks. I did NOT have talk around selected for that channel. That was the first area I checked.

The other issue was it was scanning before I changed channels so THAT'S also done.

Thanks for your help. With 32 channels and all the parameters, I'm glad all I had was this one small issue. Phew....LOL

Good I'm glad I could help, I guess I was right before I edited my post, haha. I feel your pain though, my first moto was a 3k, and then I upgraded to a 2500 and a 5K, and then got rid of those and just went back to the 3K's and it's just a whole different programming software.

I have been moving up slowly. Started with the MT2000, then the MTS2000 , the HT 1250 then went up to the 1550xls, and now the 3K. Each one has its own little quirks. I like the 3K so far. Not a bad radio.
