• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Are they P25 LSM? If so are they attached to the same personality as the one that doesn’t work?

Yeah theyre lsm. Theyre attatched to a different personality with same scan list. And the zone has the correct personality. Everything is correct.

I know I’m a broken record, sorry. You are POSITIVE the personality of the non-working frequency is set to CQPSK? If others work I’d doubt it’s an alignment issue…but I’ve been wrong before.

Maybe as a test assign the non-working one to the working personality.

Thats how i discovered the problem to assigning it to a working personality. I even tried to use only one personality assigned to cqpsk with the working freq worked but not the 155.955 and 154.875

I have the tuner that came with the cps. What should i do?

The Tuner software is only part of the picture for aligning the radio. You need a proper, relatively modern service monitor and all the other necessary equipment to properly align the radio. According to Motorola, you need (in addition to CPS and Tuner):

Communications System Analyzer
Digital Multimeter
Code Synthesizer
AC Voltmeter
Dual-Trace Oscilloscope
Wattmeter
Load Resistor
RF Millivolt Meter
SINAD Meter
DC Power Supply
Battery Eliminator
SMA to BNC Adaptor
Chassis Opener Tool
Housing Eliminator Test Fixture
USB Test Set Cable (or RS-232 Test Set Cable)
Portable Test Box

A modern service monitor ("Communication System Analyzer") will have several of these things built in, and you don't absolutely have to have all of those things (for example, the Chassis Opener Tool and Housing Eliminator Test Fixture aren't needed for a normal alignment).

If you don't have the necessary stuff, and know what you're doing, you should really take it to a Motorola shop to have it aligned. Getting in there and messing around without the proper equipment and knowing what you're doing can make things much worse.

IIRC all you can do to affect the RX side is adjust the reference oscillator anyway.

At this point with no remedy I'd update the firmware to latest R20 if it is not. With each update things were fixed as well as broken. Any XTS/XTL should be on R20 for optimal performance
