• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XTS2500 fire patch programming issue

I have a question for my guys who are authorized to program trunking systems, about an audio issue I am having with a couple of xts2500 operating our fire channel. We are currently between running off a VHF repeater system and an 800Mhz trunking system. We have 8 portables running off the 800Mhz side and the rest are VHF. Our VHF channel is patched to our trunking TG through our county's sheriff's office (our dispatch). We have 3 APX7000s, 2 XTS1500, and 1 XTS2500 that work perfectly fine coming through the patch. The other two portables are both XTS2500 which are newer to us. The XTS2500s work perfectly fine on the 800Mhz side but the audio doesn't seem to want to come through to our VHF repeater. You'll get transmissions like "Engine one is on..." and then it just goes quiet mid-message. I don't know if I had programmed something funky on these two because they weren't cloned to the other 2500s. I reached out to my county's COML/EMA Comms Manager and he said it shouldn't be the patch messing up probably something with the radios. I just find it odd that they come through perfectly fine when listening through the trunking system, just not getting audio patched through.

Any help is apperciated!

Console patch? Don't think this is a subscriber programming issue. Either way, your system admin should be looking at the ATIA data when the issue is occurring to see what is going on system wise. Without knowing how your patching is done on the back end, there are many things that can play a factor in patch performance. You need to engage your system folks, and they should be looking at your codeplugs too.
