• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Not asking for instructions here I just want to know if NAS is POSSIBLE on an XTS2500. The features on an XTS5000 that require NAS to work aren't available on an XTS2500. So is it even possible for it to be done?

Eh? What "features" would that be, since the 2500 and 5000 are capable of the same basic conventional/trunked operation?

A 9600 trunking package doesn't let me add features like H38, Q806, Q173, Q361, and H14. And flashcode 500008-000486-8 shows as invalid on the 2500 but a valid on the 5000

This is what happens when people play with software they shouldn't have access to. You have a fundamental lack of understanding of the structure of the XTS 2500's FLASHcode, leading you to make incorrect assumptions.

The XTS 2500 is perfectly capable of NAS.

Look I know you are trying to help but no need to be rude.
It's not my software I don't have access to it and the radio isn't even mine. It's my friend's.
The guy that is programming it doesn't have an RR account so he asked me to post about it here.
IDK if it was really necessary to get nasty. No wonder people stay away from here

I've had friends in the past have issues with NAS on the 2500. I have not had experience with the 2500 myself though so I can not comment on the functionality, but I do know there are subtle differences (They arnt the same). It might be safer to go with the 5000 for such a project.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for.

GTR8000 didn't lecture you he stated a fact, it is obvious you are playing with depot CPS trying to add features that you didn't pay for and talking about it on a open forum that's the one part of what's wrong here. The second is, if you took the time to actually learn how to use the tools you are using you wouldn't be here asking questions like the ones you did. The xts5000/2500 are basically the same radio just in different packages. But anyway good luck man and remember Google is your friend, a little research goes a long way.

I think I made it clear here:

And how am I supposed to learn without asking questions? When I ask questions I get insulted that I don't know what I am talking about and no one is willing to talk about it or explain it.

Go back through the many many message boards where this has all been discussed to death out there and learn something. Utilize other forums and information, Google it like 10 sites pop up right off the bat. But by all means keep discussing illegal software in the open public. And I saw you got the answer you wanted all along, [emoji58] just by another 5000. When if you did just a little work and research your 2500 would be buzzing by now [emoji2962][emoji2962][emoji2962]
