If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm working on setting up channel announcement on an XTS5000. I'm using the help files in the CPS. I have compressed my files and have a voice file report. When I go to import voice files, I get an error. "Error importing voice files" "See voice_file_log txt for possible additional information." My radio has the Q446 option. When i go to radiowide>General>channel announcement, I cant enable it. Does anyone have a solution? I bet I'm missing something. The channel announcement is so much easier on the APX line.

I now have the read/write voice files checked and was able to check channel announcement in general, but I'm still getting that same error when I attempt to import files.

When you do the drop down to assign a voice file to a channel does it show any files...You will get that error if you already imported the voice file and you are trying to import the same one twice.

After you enable the voice announce check box try saving the codeplug then close and open it back up. you should get a drop down right next to where you put the name of the channel in the zone. It should at least do a drop down and say none if you have no voice files added yet

There’s still no drop down box next to each channel. I’m have no clue what I’m doing wrong.

I’m assuming, I can use the same voice files I used for an APX radio? Maybe that can be the issue.

The screenshots were to large, but when I go to file>import voice files I can see all my mvf files and when I click on one, I get that error mentioned earlier.

I might suggest that you compressed the file with other than the XTS codeplug in CPS.
I played with both an XTL and XTS with this feature, sound file compressed with mobile wont work with portable and visa versa. (not for me anyway)

The voice files in question were previously loaded on to an APX6000. After doing some research, the APX and XTS can use the same files as long as they are 8KHz and 16 bit mono. I did make sure the file size was not too large. I’ve tried this on 2 different 5000’s, with no luck. Maybe I’ll try re-recording some of the files and place them in a different folder.

you need to imort the WAV files, then set the MVF files as your announcement
