I own two Yaesu 2-meter transceivers, a mobile FT-1900R and a hand-held FT-250R. I programmed these using the RT programming software. I've used it for many programming updates and revisions for the radios, with great ease and success.
I enjoy how I can copy the FT-250R's programming right into the FT-1900R's program and dump it directly into the mobile unit, so I can have the same frequencies, offsets, tones, etc., identically on both radios.
Today, something went wrong...I allowed the FT-250R to install a software update and voila...the program crashed. Worse, it also affected the software for the FT.1900R so neither would load.
I finally had to resort to deleting the software on my desktop, rebooting, and then re-installing both the FT-250R and FT-1900R software. Then I downloaded the memories from the FT-250R into the software, so I could manipulate it, and saw to my amazement, that it had deleted all the subtone settings...they were all vacant. I tried several things, without success.
So, as a loss for something better, I requested a fresh update through the program, and then restarted it, and tried loading in the data from the FT-250R again...this time it worked, with everything intact.
I then reinstalled the FT-1900R software and it proceeded to load in the data from the 250R!
I finally got it all sorted out properly, but it really had me going for a while there.
Just be darned careful when installing the latest (10 November 2010) update!
