Hi John,

I had the same problem with my FRG-9600, but it was nearly brand new when it failed. It went back to Yaesu and they turned it around fairly quickly, It turned out to be something in the high voltage supply for the display. I have no idea if they still support this receiver or not, but it's probably worth a try.

I highly doubt your going to get any help from Yaesu for that older model, the FRG-9600 is up there in age. I would get on the Yaesu email reflector and post about it there, i seem to recall it was a component failure as well. A schematic and a soldering iron is all its going to take to fix it.

Contact Yaesu first just in case, never know!
