Hello,

I for the life of me can’t figure out how to keep the backlight on when“Busy”, then turn off when conversation ends. It works when scanning, but not when monitoring a channel by itself.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Exactly

So...in "Display" and #4 Lamp I have my lamp setting at 2 seconds for Key, and the Save to Off. Thus, the radio backlight goes to whatever level you have set when you key or manipulate buttons/screen and then dims down to Level 1 automatically after 2 seconds and remains on. I did not like having to manipulate the radio each time to see it light up, so I just leave it on. I never tested how long my battery lasts like that. I have additional batteries and a 12v power cord. I leave the GPS on too, so it's pretty much eating power, but I haven't noticed that I need to replace the battery after several hours of use. I will leave it on all day today and TX an APRS beacon at 5W every 5 minutes on a UHF freq and monitor it as I would like to know as well.
