I am looking at getting a VR-160 receiver. Does the menu switch to English from Japanese?

Are these in current production? Does anyone have a recommendation for the best price to buy one?

I have the Yaesu VX-3R which is the amateur transceiver version. When I use it to RX on shortwave, it definitely needs an AM Broadcast band notch filter inline, or at least an AM broadcast High Pass Filter ( YMMV ). The same with the Yaesu VR-500. The only handhelds I have that handle SW without an AM filter inline are the Icom IC-R30 and the Kenwood D74A. There's a reason the last two cost much more whether you can still find them new or used.

Anyways, I believe all of these radios are now discontinued, including the VR-160. Still, for AM & FM broadcast as well as VHF and up I do enjoy my VX-3R ( VR-160 ). It is a handy radio even just for RX. Of course a tuned antenna is everything. For HF/SW a passive preselector helps.

Coincidently, I just ordered this charger and batteries yesterday. That small radio is easy to pocket.
