Can I listen to the Yankees ball game on my radio. They transmit on 88 AM radio. I think this should be 880.000 AM. Am I right but I can't get it? What would this be on the ham radio if I'm wrong??? FM tunes in as FM 102.3 but can't get to AM. I should also get TV in the 174 to 222 range is there anything there??? Ron

The VX-series requires frequencies to be entered as MHz -- with the decimal point -- on all bands. Entering 880 would get you into the chicken-cooking microwave frequencies. IMHO the VX-series 5/6/7/8 is deaf as a stick (excuse the mixed metaphors) on the AM and SW bands unless you change out the stock antenna. Yea, I know about the internal antenna. Still deaf. And if you manage to suck in a signal the AM filter (especially for SW) is too wide. I really don't know why Yaesu/Vertex bothers to include the coverage. You're better off with a cheap AM portable or, if you have a smartphone, with TuneIn Radio and (for CBS) iHeartRadio apps.

True, except it works for me I guess because I'm not a purist when it comes to shortwave. I use the antenna off my old vx-5 with a wire dipole connected to the top underneath the 6meter stub and it works great!
Internat'l shortwave is all I care about on hf anyway.
