Hi,
I live in Epsom, NH about 20 miles north of Manchester and am trying despertly to receive their police and fire transmitions. They use an 800 mhz trunked EDACS system. I recently installed a Diamond D-130J discone antenna with 75 feet of LMR 400 coax with the hope of picking them up, and all I get is silence.
I have four digital trunking scanners and have tried them all with the same result. I mainly use a Pro 106, and I can pick them up well in the car when I am close enough or even travel to Concord which is about the same distance as Epsom to Manchester.
I was thinking about purchasing a Yagi 800 mhz beam but do not want to invest a lot of money for the antenna, coax, and installition if I was not going to get some results.
I am hoping someone out there can give me some advise on this topic, and which Yagi you recommend if any.
