On 04 November 2025, there will be a General Obligation bond placed before the voters in the Verde Valley Fire District, in Yavapai County, AZ.
There are two main subjects of the Bond and one of these affects the scanner hobbyist and future interoperability with other agencies:
The VVFD is served by two repeater sites in the County. They are conventional/analog. They are, according to the FD, at EOL, and in need to replacement. Weather events supposedly interfere with operations. The Bond is to purchase new sites [voter?] with multi-linking networking to vastly improve redundancy/reliability and range. They also intend to bring P-25 communications to the region at some future point. The communications portion of this Bond is projected to be $2,000,000 USD. I have a number of questions that I've posed to Fire Chief Danny Johnson about this portion of the Bond and am awaiting any response.
The second portion of the Bond [approx. $7,000,000 USD] is to construct a new Fire Station in the Town of Clarkdale. The existing station belongs to the Town and is leased to the Fire District. It is an old garage that was improvised into a Fire Station and it does not meet EPA/OSHA/NFPA standards for pollution control, mitigation of contaminants, etc.
While I am not advocating politically for or against this Bond, I wanted to let other scanner listeners and public safety officials in the Verde Valley know of what may come to pass in this post.
