Ft 450

Nice entry level 160 - 10m rig, I own one myself, I used it along with the Tarheel II automatic screwdriver antenna from wb0w home page and with the Turbo Tuner by N2VZ Enterprises Automatic Screwdriver Antenna Controller, on the car and tractor trailer using the Diamond K400 mounts. Initially I was looking at the ICOM 7000, Kenwood TS 2000/ 480's and even the ICOM 706 mkII. However, I went to eham.net a day before purchasing my very first rig, and was positively impressed with the reviews of this lesser priced HF transceiver. The filters are good for this price, learning the menus will probably take some time. Many do not like the small knob but hey, for less than $630.00, a great buy. My next mobile rig is the Yaesu FT 857, but the FT 450 is still a keeper!
