Hi,

On the wiki page for York Region Phase II P25, I noticed that none of the fire dispatchs are marked encrypted. Anyone willing to set that up and provide some of us "low on cash" folks with some audio?

Also, I heard of something called DSD or discriminator tap or smth like that which allows the monitor of enc radios...true or false?!

False.

Don't confuse digital with encryption. There is no way for scanner enthusiasts to monitor encryption.

As far as someone providing audio on the unencrypted Dispatch channels, you will have to wait and see if someone is motivated to volunteer to provide a Live Audio feed.

At the minute someone does stream those channels they will turn on the encryption the same week just like Durham region did.

I guess the OP hasn't heard about the late YRPD Const. Styles that was tragically killed in the line of duty a few summers ago,and it was streamed online for everyone who was listening to hear. and you wonder why theres encryption......

Well, to be fair - that wasn't the streamer's fault. It was the media who screwed up big time and chose to air the audio - not to mention that the incident itself shouldn't have ever happened.

the media wouldn't have had anything to play if it wasn't streamed and recorded.and you're right,it shouldn't of happened.

I never once mentioned YRP in this thread. I already know the situation behind it and I'm actually fine with police being encrypted since the media thinks what they did was OK.

I'm talking about the digital unencrypted fire dispatchs.

I brought up this example to illustrate why no comms should be streamed, whether police, fire, whatever.the first rule of scanning is keeping what you hear to yourself, not broadcast it over the net.

Fair enough!

Can a moderator get rid of this before I ruin it for others please?!

You haven't ruined anything for anyone. It was a fair question to ask. You have been offered some options to consider for personal monitoring.

It wouldn't be fair to others who have taken time to reply to this thread to nuke it.
