Just listened to a nice pursuit by the Yosemite National Park Rangers on 172.650. Could hear it fine in Vacaville. Tuolumne SO also joined in on 152.630, also received very clear and strong out here in the central valley. Hummer with female drive DUI/Drugs. 2 in custody. Code 4.

right. I saw that. Was wondering if they use PL? Maybe any tacticals, multiple dispatches, etc...Basically, I was hoping you could hook me/us up with any frequencies you have for YNP. Guess I'll just plug that in and see if I get anything.

I was in my place in Groveland when that came through. CHP joined in, went Code 3 past my house to set up a spike strip on Hwy 120 just east of town. They yielded to YNP Rangers and Tuol Co SO before getting that far. They were also tossing evidence out the window before stopping. Very exciting! Things like that don't happen too often up there.

Here is some Yosemite info for you:

Repeaters:
172.650 No PL - Park rangers and snowplows for all except Valley district (Mather, Tuol Meadows, and Wawona ranger districts) On good days I can get this weakly from Bay Area.
166.300 No PL - Park rangers for the Valley ranger district (The farthest I can get this is from certain areas of San Joaquin valley.)
172.775 No PL - Fire and medical for all districts. Much more active in summer, of course.

Simplex:
168.350 No PL - Valley area tactical channel

Repeater inputs:
171.650 - Various PLs, depends on which repeater is being activated. This is input for Mather and Wawona units to 172.650 repeaters. Repeater sites include Crane Flat, Mt Hoffman, don't know the others offhand.
172.025 - Various PLs This is input for Tuol Meadows units to 172.650 repeaters.
164.425 - Various PLs This is input for Valley units to 166.300 repeaters. There is a repeater site on Sentinal Dome and North Dome, I think.
171.800 - Various PLs This is input for all Fire/Med units to 172.775 repeaters. Can sometimes hear this is SJ valley - dispatch must use this to trigger repeaters.

Ranger unit identification:
"Mike" units - Mather district (they were involved in chase)
"Tango" units - Tuol Meadows district
"Whiskey" units - Wawona district
"Victor" units - Valley district

Enjoy

I was getting the Valley Tac (168.35) showing a tone of 156.7 with some talk of "Ski Patrol" guys calling each other and a control. Couldn't make out where they were saying they were, but I was getting something that sounded like it might be YNP. Any possibility on this being the park, or is it possibly up in the Sierras?

Good catch! If what you heard on 168.350 is YNP, it would be for the Badger Pass ski area, which is inside the park. I don't really know if they use a consistent PL on this freq, I just listed it as 'no PL' because that is how I have it programmed in. Next time I have my 246T there with the fast PL decode I will check.

Kelty has 168.350 listed as a "Federal Common" channel. I know it is shared between govt agencies because I heard it used by USFS personnel in Shasta-Trinity Natl Forest last year as a tac channel. They used a PL of 167.9, which is Shasta-T's standard (BTW, their main freq is 171.575).
