OHP troopers seen on 117 miles of turnpike =1
MHP troopers seen on 20 miles of Missouri backroads = 8
fireant said:Not to be off topic but the short staffing covers almost all the departments not just OHP but I agree they are short staffed as well. They are a great organization just wish the state would let go some money and let them hire more. That also goes with the other departments not wanting to let go the money or they just don't have it to start with. The sad thing not only the officers safety but the citizens safety as well is in jeopardy with the short staffing issues facing law enforcement here in the State of Oklahoma.
Just my thoughts.....

Why does Missouri have some many troopers while we have so few?
Why does Arkansas have such better radios while we're so far behind?
Why do people in poor Kansas small towns know how to use lawn mowers and show community pride while poor Oklahomans just know how to look poor?
I love our state. I really do. But, geez. Sometimes I really wonder.
Maybe it has something to do with us being such a young state compared to our neighbors. Maybe we were stunted by the lower economic scale of the land run families. Maybe the indians cursed the land before we rolled them for it (in some way other than cursing us with casinos, I mean).
Any guesses?

I would venture to say that without the Troop X/Y guys we would have a shortage that makes the current situation look like a surplus.
It is true though. Crime and population growth in many cities has extended the current day officers beyond what many of them can safely handle. I just hope that no one has to get hurt to prove the point.
Looks like we need to spend a lot more on education.PolarBear25 said:It All Goes to 'Eduction" or the OEA.
