I am a casual but long-time Unitrunker user. In the process of installing Unitrunker onto a new PC, it seems that I can not get Zadig to load WinUSB (or any other driver)... It just keeps throwing the same error message:
"The driver installation failed / Could not allocate resource"

The Zadig log file shows the following:
"Zadig 2.9.788
Windows 11 Pro, x64 (Build 26200.8457)
ini file 'zadig.ini' not found in 'C:\Users\ashev\Downloads' - default parameters will be used
default driver set to 'WinUSB'"

However, Zadig does not appear to install WinUSB, or any other driver for that matter. As the log specifies, I do not see a zadig, ini file in the folder with zadig. Where might I find/get this file?

I have made numerous attempts - regular, administrator, different RTLSDR devices, different USB ports - all with the same result. I'm probably missing something stupid, but it would help if someone could point it out to me. Thanks.

It takes ages to install. Try waiting until the installer completes (takes a few minutes).

Or may be try running the install from another directory ?

All it basically does is sets your preferences, which would be,
  • Check "List All Devices".
  • Un-check "Ignore hubs or composite parents."

Since you tried a few dongles with no luck, maybe download the latest Zadig here

Then follow the procedure listed here.

Pay attention to the warning.

Please be very, very careful. Realtek makes lots of components besides TV tuner sticks. If you're unsure, post a screen shot of Zadig on a public forum and ask. If you zap the wrong device - any number of components could cease to function (mouse, keyboard, network, fingerprint reader, SD card slot, etc.)

Thanks for your suggestions. Actually, Zadig throws the error almost instantly. I have also tried running the install from another directory. Same result.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have downloaded Zadig several times directly from the Zadig site. When I download it, it comes with only the .exe itself and no other supporting files. Is this normal?
I have also followed the recommended procedure exactly so many times that I can now do it by memory. Zadig continues to immediately throw the error. I even switched to a totally different machine and a different dongle... Same result.

Try creating a directory in root of your C drive "Temp" or similar. Try running from there.

Or right click and run as Admin ?

Problem Resolved!

Since I was getting nowhere with Zadig 2.9 (the latest version), on a hunch, I loaded v2.8 - also a no-go. So I jumped down to v2.5 (circa 2020), and it worked the first time. Now all I have to do is figure out why the control channel of my local trunked system appears to be so weak in Unitrunker.

Thanks much for all of the above suggestions.
