The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone else noticed that the model number on the sticker (under battery) is not always the same as the model number imported from the g4/g5?

We noticed that sometimes when the wrong or mismatched model number is used for a profile, the units do not operate well and have bugs.

When they are matched correctly, the units work well.

Why are the model numbers that are imported different from the sticker? Is this a phase 2 upgrade thing?

I have not seen any negative results from the programming file not matching the model number. I always use the convert new model feature to keep things straight.

GXX64 is Phase I or II
GXX66 is Phase II
GXX67 is Phase II DMR Conventional

Just match your model number to the programming file. Model number shows when the pager is plugged in to the PC.

To answer your question.
Unication had an original model number with the Phase 1 units.
Phase 2 had a new model number.
IF a Phase 1 went back to factory for Phase 2 update the internal model number was changed to support Phase 2 in the CPS. They did not replace the sticker.
IF you are in doubt, go with the internal model number that you read when CPS reads the radio. That will always be the most accurate.

Ok
Thanks to all
That is what i had thought, phase 2 upgrades. We just had a bunch upgraded and noticed the number mismatch when they came back. We were confused at first because we couldnt find many on the list with 1401 in the model number.
