Yeah, I can just throw the radio on the seat anytime, so the antenna was more important than mounting the radio :)

What do you guys think is the better location? Center of dash or left side of dash?

And disregard the wires. Just testing to see which location I like better.

Not many other options. Unless I double mount it with the stereo, but that might be more expensive.

I think I would try and get a RH-96. They are very pricey but would make your instal much easier.

I have a BCt15 I was trying to figure out how to mount. My wife said no to all the drilling and cutting of the dash since it was a new car. So I showed her and bought a HomePatrol. Installed nice and clean with no complaints from the MRS except the price.

If you have to go on the dash, I think the center looks better, assuming you can run the wires so that they aren't an eye sore.

Of course the obvious comments about safety still apply, but it really sucks that many / most modern vehicles have absolutely no room to safely mount scanners / radios.

If it was me driving I would prefer it on the center of the dash if those are the only 2 options. What about on either side of the center console, either by your leg or the passenger leg facing up?

I'd get one if it came with more colors than orange in the display. The blue on the uniden is exactly the same blue as my dash lights.

The center was my choice too.

I'd rather not have it by my legs as it could interfere with my driving. Plus there's just something about having the radio sideways, just doesn't look right

The only spot I can see were the scanner might be able to go is that area between the heater controls and shifter. But it would depend how deep that area is behind the plasic molding. However if you removed the outer black sheel and used the Din-e shell it might work. But, if you choose that route I'd find a second hand concole molding to modify. Keep the orginal concole intact.
Otherwise I think you're limited to the RH-56. Which could be mounted in the same location, or to the molding where the coupholders are between the seat(downside would having to take you eyes off the road).
